Deep-tech ecosystems need role models whose stories make the full journey visible, not only the breakthrough or the exit. Scientists and young founders also need to see the years of technical uncertainty, regulatory work, industrial partnership and repeated financing behind the apparent success. Otherwise, “starification” can make the field feel less accessible rather than more. The most useful role models may be those who make complex careers legible and show that frontier innovation is built by teams with complementary identities, not solitary heroic founders.
